Obituary

Mrs Elizabeth Baker

It is with profound regret that we record the passing of Mrs Elizabeth Baker of Wedderburn. Death took place with startling suddenness on Friday last and came as a great shock to all.

Deceased had not been too well of late, but there was nothing to indicate that her end was so near and the shock received by her son, Bob, when he entered the kitchen to find that his mother had collapsed on a chair and died can well be imagined. The sympathy of the whole district is directed towards the family at its sudden and tragic bereavement and this sympathy is heightened by the remembrance that it is less that nine months ago that Mrs Baker's husband (Mr Guy Baker) passed away.

Members of the family are Robert, Roy, Ruby (Mrs Sanderson, Richmond), Rena (Mrs Tacey), Frank, Rex, Rita, Tom, Herb, and Ettie.

The funeral, largely attended, took place to the Wedderburn Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The Rev A E Rosewarne conducted the graveside service, while Mr Les Appleby carried out the mortuary arrangements. Coffin bearers being Bob, Roy, Rex, Tom and Herb (sons) and Ken (grandson) while the pall was carried by Messrs George and Charlie Edwards (cousins), Tom Edwards, Reg Matthews, Jack McIntyre and Alf. Tonkin. Tray-bearers were Messrs. J. R. Doig and R W Donaldson.
